Due to logistical, environmental or safety reasons, the guidelines given for the road and obstacle courses on event day take precedence over the guidelines given on this page.
The Hercules Fitness Challenge will not tolerate unsportsmanlike conduct. Examples may include, but are not limited to; foul language, aggressive behavior toward fellow participants, spectators or Hercules Officials, damage to obstacles and physical property, etc. Participants found in violation of this guideline are subject to immediate disqualification and may be asked to exit the venue.
Each obstacle on the course is monitored by Obstacle Officials. Obstacle Officials direct the flow of traffic and enforce proper execution and completion of the obstacle. If a participant does not wish to attempt the obstacle, the participant must proceed to the Burpee Zone. Participants may attempt the obstacle as many times as they wish. Upon proper execution and completion of the obstacle, participants advance to the next obstacle. If a participant cannot properly execute and complete the obstacle, an Obstacle Official will send the participant to the Burpee Zone.
Burpee Zones and Burpee Officials
Each obstacle on the obstacle course has a Burpee Zone and is monitored by a Burpee Official. Burpee Officials enforce proper execution and completion of burpees. Participant's sent to the Burpee Zone by an Obstacle Official must properly execute and complete the required number of burpees to advance to the next obstacle. If a Burpee Official determines that the participant’s burpees are not being executed properly, the Burpee Official may direct the participant to redo improperly performed burpees.
All obstacles are Completion Mode. Completion Mode means the obstacle must be properly executed and completed to advance to the next obstacle. Completed means by any means necessary; help from a friend, teammate or stranger...GET IT DONE! If you can not complete it, an Obstacle Official will direct you to the Burpee Zone.
The Burpee Penalty per category of difficulty. Beginner athletes will be responsible for completing 10 burpees before moving on. Intermediate athletes will be responsible for completing 20 burpees before moving on. Advanced athletes will be responsible for completeing 30 before moving on.
